About Heaven Scent

Heaven Scent Bed & Breakfast offers Virginia Green Lodging right on Route 33, the road to Deltaville, VA and Sting Ray Point. As this was the farmhouse, it is set some 300 yards back from the highway, among magnolia and pecan trees, where the highway is not heard. Tended as wildlife habitat, with a butterfly garden, fountain, many birdbaths and feeders, it also has herb gardens, a rose garden, lilacs and peonies so that delicious scents are wafted with each breeze.

Come to relax, breathe the wonderful fresh air, chill and be pampered. I love spoiling guests and seeing them enjoy the property, whether bird-watching, relaxing on the large screened porch, or checking out the original watercolors and other paintings that fill the house. Guests who want to be active can learn to sail, go out on a fishing charter, kayak on the creeks or the Piankatank River or the Rappahannock River, play golf, or use the town's free tennis courts. You can swim in the rivers as well, with small beaches just 3 miles from the house, or get a day pass for the Urbanna pool, 14 miles up the road. Here at Heaven Scent, practice your golf drives out in the fields, play badminton or wiffle ball.

Hospitality is foremost. You can be sure of a warm welcome and kind attention. You'll have as much privacy as you like, but will also be offered refreshments and snacks at any hour. Come and go as you please, there is no curfew here! Breakfast hours are flexible so that you can enjoy a wonderful homecooked meal to start your day, whatever your plans. I look forward to hosting your stay in Deltaville, VA.

Innkeeper Pat Patterson

A native "Saint Louis woman", I came to Chick Cove Manor in January 2003 after two decades in Manhattan (which I still love). Heaven Scent lets me indulge my love of cooking for guests, and provides more than ample gardening challenges for anyone. I enjoy meeting guests and hearing your stories, and love to pamper all who come. My own passions (besides cooking) are classical music, wine, international travel, language study, history, genealogy, and all fine arts. Beyond that, I'm rather a computer nerd and enjoy programming. Nocturnal creature with a disturbed inner clock, little clue of night or day, so do not hesitate to call or arrive late at night.

Sad to say, all co-hosts are long gone. I now close for the winter and head to Cancun. I am trying to sell Heaven Scent so I can move there permanently; much as I love hosting, the grounds are more than I can now manage, so I hope someone else will fall in love with this property and carry out his/her/their dream project. Spread the word ... but know the B&B will keep operating until the last contingency is passed. Don't let anyone tell you I've closed, until you have email from me or read a notice on the business Facebook page.

Local marina pick up / drop off

Happy to spare you the inconvenience of local car rental if I can. Yes, you might borrow the car for some errands as well.

No hour is too late to arrive

Early arrivals are a challenge: I use all the mid-day hours I have for cleaning and yard tasks, to create a welcoming environment for you ... wouldn't want to spoil the magic ...
